Arturo R. Alluin Ojeda is a local business leader, entrepreneur, and community advocate committed to building a stronger future for El Paso.

Born in Toluca, Mexico in 1991, Arturo moved with his family to Ciudad Juárez at the age of five. For over a decade, he crossed the border daily to attend school in El Paso — beginning at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School without speaking any English. Adapting at such a young age to a new language, culture, and environment shaped his resilience, work ethic, and ability to see the world from multiple perspectives.

His path was not always linear.

He completed his High School education at El Paso Country Day School, where he was pushed to grow, focus, and prepare for college despite significant challenges. Arturo went on to attend Austin College in Sherman, Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, with minors in Philosophy and Ethics, graduating Cum Laude. He was awarded the Founder’s Scholarship for academic excellence and recognized nationally in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. During this time, he also gained early exposure to business strategy while working with Vianovo, a firm advising Fortune 500 companies.

After graduation, Arturo made a decision that would shape his leadership philosophy — he chose to return and work alongside his father in the agricultural industry. To accelerate his learning, he attended the International Cotton Institute at the University of Memphis and later worked in France with an international trading company, gaining experience in global logistics, risk management, and operational systems.

Back in Mexico, Arturo helped manage international exports and implemented systems that improved efficiency and profitability. It was during this time that he learned one of the most important lessons of his life: A person’s value is not just what they know or what they can do — it is determined by their attitude.

That principal continues to guide everything he does.

In 2018, Arturo returned to El Paso to pursue his passion for business and hospitality. He opened The Melting Pot, helping modernize a 45-year-old brand, and later founded AO Ventures, LLC. In 2022, he successfully launched the first U.S. location of Sushi Itto, now one of the top-performing restaurants in a global portfolio of over 140 locations.

Today, Arturo oversees multiple restaurant concepts and employs over 130 El Pasoans. He has also consulted for multi-unit restaurant groups, managing operations of over 280 employees while consistently driving measurable growth.

Through every chapter of his journey — from crossing the border as a child, to working internationally, to building businesses in El Paso — Arturo has learned a simple truth:

Success is never accidental. It is built — intentionally — through preparation, structure, and experience.

These principles now shape his vision for public service.

I’ve always believed that leadership starts by listening.

Over the years, as I’ve built businesses and worked alongside people across El Paso, I’ve had the opportunity to hear directly from our community — what’s working, what’s not, and where we can do better.

District 8 is a special part of our city. It’s where culture, history, and growth come together — and it deserves leadership that understands that balance and is willing to show up and do the work.

Today, as a father and as someone who lives here, this feels more personal than ever. I care about the kind of city we’re building — not just for today, but for the next generation.

I’m running because I believe we can do more, and we can do it together — with focus, accountability, and a genuine commitment to our community.

Sincerely,

Arturo R. Alluin
